Google’s annual I/O developer conference started today and we provided live coverage so you could get all the Android, Cloud, Android Wear and other news as it happened. Click the live blog or video pane above to relive the event as it happened.
The keynote speech for Google I/O lasted for more than two hours so we got plenty of news from the online search giant. Google outlined new philosophy: tying up Chromebooks, Android phones and tablets, and wearables, in-car tech and more. Google Fit got a mention, as did the next generation of Android itself.
You can read about the details in thses stories. Below the line is what we expected to see. Have a look and see how wrong we were!
The firm will almost certainly talk about Android Wear, it’s version for wearable devices like smartwatches. It is due to launch soon on the LG G Watch. Other forms of Android which could be part of I/O this year include Android Silver, Android in the car, Android TV and Android Home.
Google has just launched the Google Glass Explorer Programme in the UK so it might mention this but it won’t be a key announcement. It’s possible and we hope that Google will talk about new Nexus smartphones and tablets – it could announce any of the following:Nexus 6, Nexus 8, Nexus 9 and a new Nexus 10. It wouldn’t be uncommon for Google to talk about Chrome, too.
